Welcome to another exciting year with the OIAA Kawartha Durham Chapter!
It is truly an honour to serve as your President for the 2026–2027 term. I look forward to building on the incredible momentum our chapter has created and continuing to provide opportunities for insurance professionals to connect, learn, and give back to our community.
Before looking ahead, I would like to recognize our outgoing President, Alicia Hughes. Over the past three years, Alicia has been an exceptional leader for our chapter. Following the challenges brought on by COVID-19, she played a significant role in rebuilding member engagement and helping our chapter thrive once again. On a personal level, I am incredibly grateful for her kindness, encouragement, and unwavering support throughout my own journey. She has been a wonderful mentor and friend, and our chapter is stronger because of her leadership.
Over the past year, I have noticed a remarkable increase in engagement throughout our local insurance community. Whether attending educational events, networking opportunities, or social gatherings, it has been inspiring to see so many professionals reconnecting and supporting one another. Our industry is filled with talented, generous, and genuinely wonderful people, and I feel fortunate to be part of such an incredible community.
I would also like to recognize our executive committee. The success of our chapter is truly a team effort, and I am incredibly fortunate to work alongside such a dedicated and enthusiastic group of volunteers. Their commitment, creativity, and countless hours behind the scenes have been instrumental in making our events so successful.
We are equally grateful for the tremendous support we continue to receive from our vendor partners and sponsors. Your partnership allows us to provide high-quality educational and networking opportunities for our members while keeping many of our events affordable and accessible. Thanks to the continued support of both our members and sponsors, every one of our major events this past year sold out on both the attendee and vendor side—a milestone that reflects the strength and enthusiasm of our local insurance community.
One initiative that I am especially excited about this year is our new Charity of the Year partnership with The Animal Guardian Society (TAGS). This organization is particularly close to my heart, as I had the privilege of volunteering with them in the past. Although life became busy and I was unable to continue volunteering as much as I had hoped, I am thrilled that our chapter now has the opportunity to support their incredible work in a meaningful way. Through our fundraising efforts at events throughout the year, we hope to make a positive impact while continuing OIAA Kawartha Durham’s tradition of giving back to our community.
Looking ahead, we have another fantastic year planned, including many of the events that have become favourites among our members—our Bowling Night, Hockey Night, Education Day, and Golf Tournament. We are also exploring new ideas to continue growing member engagement and creating valuable opportunities to learn, network, and support one another.
I encourage you to keep an eye on our website and follow us on social media for announcements, event registration, and chapter updates. Whether you are a long-time member or attending your first OIAA event, I hope you’ll join us throughout the year. I look forward to meeting many of you and making the 2026–2027 season our best yet.
Thank you for your continued support of the OIAA Kawartha Durham Chapter. Here’s to another successful year together!
Warm regards,
Nadine Dionne, CIP
